Barb

Barb is the owner of Spots Dog Grooming and a 1990 graduate of the  Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming. Since that time she has worked at  several dog grooming salons, and owned her first business in St. Thomas,  USVI, Wags to Whiskers. Hurricane Marilyn brought Barb and her husband  back to the states when she began teaching at the Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming.  In 2013 Spots Dog Grooming opened it's doors.  In 2016 due to the need for a larger space, Spots moved into it's current location.  Our Groomers and the friends that we serve are what make our Spots Family special.  We appreciate your support and look forward to many, many more years of service.

 Hello, my name is Brittany and I have been a professional dog Groomer since 2015.   I started in a corporate setting where I was lucky to work with and be  trained by many talented and experienced people. I worked my way up to salon  manager but was always frustrated and overwhelmed by the demanding, fast  paced, and high stress environment. I felt like I could not do my best  work or give my all.
Ever since I started on my own at Spots I have been so happy to be able  to give my clients the extra time and care that they deserve, in an  environment where the dogs and I can feel at ease and build rapport.
 I strongly emphasize taking my time to make sure that my work is  quality and the pups are comfortable. I truly love all the dogs I work  with as if they were my own.

 Hi, my name is Emma and I became a professional dog groomer in 2022! 

I enjoy being able to work with dogs every day. Getting to know my clients and their personalities is one of the best ways to keep them happy and comfortable. I have my own little guy Benny that needs grooming, and I understood the struggle in finding a good groomer. Lizzie has been grooming professionally since 2022.   She knows the importance of a stress free environment for both you and your pet.  Lizzie enjoys all breeds, large or small and takes pride in being able to work with dogs of  all temperaments.  Calming those that are anxious, is a huge part  of providing a stress free grooming experience.  Lizzie can assure that each pup that passes from your heart to hers will be treated as if it were her own.

 Hi, my name is Robin. I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Dog  Grooming in 2005. After working in a corporate setting to nurture my  passion for dogs, I further developed my skills grooming puppies, dogs with anxiety, and even dogs that can be aggressive. I’ve also learned  techniques for handling these various situations.  I don't claim I can groom every dog, but I am always willing to try!
 

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach and inspire other  groomers. I take pride in my patience and enjoy helping new groomers  develop their skills. I also value building relationships with clients  and their pets, understanding different styles, and ensuring that owners  are satisfied with how their pets are groomed.
 

Since joining Spots, I’ve found a calm, stress-free atmosphere that  focuses on one-on-one care for the dogs. It’s been a perfect fit for my  approach to grooming.

Hi,  I'm Brianna! I've been grooming since 2021, and I really love it. I  groom both cats and dogs, with my specialty being nervous or senior  pets. I always tell my clients that I am not a fast groomer, but your  pet will be comfortable and have a high quality groom in my care! I  focus on training pets for grooming, so they become confident and enjoy their time at the salon.  I  grew up with dogs, as my parents bred Great Danes when I was a kid.  I now have two cats, that do tricks, follow commands, and let me practice on  them when I was learning how to bathe cats.  In college I studied marine biology.  I taught experimental education, used to sail and also cared for marine animals rounding out my animal care experience.  I  love talking about sailing too, so ask away!

Hello! My name is Makayla (aka) Mickey and I have been working with dogs  since 2016. I have done so many different jobs involving dogs and I  have learned so many amazing skills! I specialize in anxious dogs and  puppies! I want the dogs on my table to enjoy the grooming experience, maybe not love it but at least tolerate it. I think it's important to teach the dogs what to expect, I don’t want any  dogs feeling scared or frightened. It’s my goal to ensure them throughout this experience that they are safe!
I used to be a kennel and clinic assistant working with post surgical  dogs. Helping them recover from surgery was only part of my experience  there! I learned the best ways to hold pups and move their joints for no  pain.
I worked in a corporate setting, in the grooming salon for about 5  years. Picked up so many different techniques there! I also worked  at a private salon for about 1 and a half years. From there I furthered  my education by going to grooming expos and taking classes to learn  more.
Since I have joined Spots I am already seeing my really anxious pups  start to settle, be more comfortable and confident! I’m so excited to be  able to work 1 on 1 with dogs and truly be able to take my time.
